Maitri

Maitri means "friendliness"

A young female dog was found wandering the streets of Canton and taken to the pound.  A woman who already had pets saved her from being put to death and searched for a good permanent home.  Masie's online photo charmed the Atma Center's Director, who went to meet her and was impressed - the shepherd-greyhound mix had sleek good looks and a remarkably calm disposition for a 10-month-old.

Atmarupa adopted Masie on a Sunday and that Tuesday evening, the puppy sat on a mat at the front of a yoga studio and helped teach an hour-and-a-half long class.  The next day, the staff debated on a new yoga name for the dog, finally settling on Maitri (friendliness).  We have high hopes that she will embody that wonderful quality as she settles into her job as greeter and teacher.
