The Exploratium Workshop Series – Songwriting

January 23 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 2:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until January 23, 2021

Room: Front Studio

The Atma Center is thrilled to host Atma Center student (and Deb Klein’s former high school English teacher) David Krauss as a facilitator of this workshop.

David has been attending classes at Atma Center for 10 years and has been playing music with his friends, as well as, writing songs for over fifty years. He is happy to offer his perspective and skills in this unique student-led workshop series.

Please join us as we come together (online) 3 times to navigate the calmer waters of songwriting and skim the surface of lyric writing.

The first meeting will outline the specifications of the project, and the subsequent 2 gatherings, will bring us back to share our process and our songs, and perhaps discuss elements of rhyme and meter as they apply our own lyrics.

It is expected that students will have some fun presenting with our creations. Proficiency in playing an instrument is not necessary.

This is meant to be a fun, light-hearted project, designed specifically to be a creative outlet and a way to bring our community together.

We will open the door to listening and discuss how we use words in a song. Feel free to invite your friends and anyone who would like to have an inside look at what it takes to bring out the music that lives inside all of us.

Dates: Jan 9, from 2:00-2:30pm; and Jan. 16, and 23, from 2:00-3:00pm
